ORGANISATION

  1. 1.Two teams of six are playing 2v2v2 teams and two more teams of six are acting as ‘wall’ players or ‘goal pass receivers’ while they actively rest.

  2. 2.The players are restricted to there own third of the field

  3. 3.Play is started at one end by a ‘goal pass receiver’ who passes to say the red team in the defending third, they are then encouraged to play through the mid third and into the attacking third. A goal is scored by passing through one of the three goals to a ‘goal pass receiver’. If this is done successfully then the red team are given possession again. They then attack the other end.

  4. 4.The players along the touch line, the ‘wall players’ may be restricted to one touch passing.

  5. VARIATIONS

  6. 1. Limit the number of touches.. fewer allowed touches will lift the tempo of the practice.

  7. 2.Lift restrictions on the areas that players may play in. e.g midfield players may enter the attacking third, players may play in any third etc.

  8. 3.Vary the game time to... effect the intensity of the session,... develop mental focus skill training... match the ability and maturation of the players etc.

KEY COACHING FACTORS

This will depend on the purpose of the session.
